The deadline for submission is 12th of September 2018, Brussels time.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) 2018 call for Individual Fellowships (IF) under Horizon 2020 is now open! The EU provides a record 273 million EUR to support experienced researchers of any nationality.

This MSCA IF call includes a number of attractive new features:

  • Good news for scientists who want to return to research after a break for whatever reason or would like to come back to Europe after working elsewhere in the world: proposals submitted under the Career Restart Panel or the Reintegration Panel will now have a higher chance of success, compared to those submitted under the standard scientific panels, as the budget for both panels has increased. Moreover, career restarters can benefit from one additional year of MSCA funding, amounting to 36 months in total.

  • Global Fellows now have the possibility to spend up to three months at their European host before going abroad. This period is part of the outgoing phase to ensure a smooth transfer of knowledge when returning back to Europe.

  • Conditions for part-time work have become more favourable: scientists now have the possibility to pursue supplementary activities in parallel to their MSCA fellowship, for example, create their own business or follow advanced studies.

  • Researchers applying for an MSCA European Fellowship in so-called Widening countries will get from now on a second chance through Widening Fellowships. Proposals with a host institution in a Widening country, but not retained for funding through the MSCA Individual Fellowship call due to a lack of funding, will automatically be reassigned to the Widening Fellowships call (unless the applicants explicitly opted-out).
