We are looking for a head of the X-ray Structure Analysis Centre, an outstanding researcher with an established record and reputation in the broad area of X-ray crystallography.
The Position is currently limited to 2 years with the possibility of subsequent unlimited employment.

Amongst the topics/areas of interest are: single crystal diffraction of small molecules; single crystal diffraction of macromolecular compounds; solution of twin problems; crystal growth; powder diffraction and small angle scattering methods in Material Chemistry tasks and Protein Chemistry; back-tracing from diffraction data to improve diffractometer hardware; improvement of data collection and data processing protocols.
Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement; Supervision of students. Outstanding knowledge in ShelX programs, XDS and SAINT, CCP4- and Phenix-based programs for phasing, refinement and modelling; experience in designing, procuring and managing research projects and external funds; enthusiasm for excellent teaching and the ability and willingness to teach students; excellent communication and team working skills and the ability to guide young academics.
Additional skills in very new alternative scattering methods like electron crystallography for crystal structure determination of small molecules and macromolecular compounds, programming skills with respect to workflow optimisation, experience in detector technology from Dectris, practice on x-ray devices from Bruker and Malvern-Panalytical, background on various analytical methods used in chemistry like powder diffraction and SAXS, good industry contacts, including hardware manufacturers would be desirable.
