Hungarian Academy of Sciences

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences (in short: HAS, in Hungarian: Magyar Tudományos Akadémia, MTA) is Hungary’s most important (and prestigious) learned society. Its mission is distribution of the results of science, supporting research and representing the Hungarian scientific community.

It has 11 research units (8 of them are focused for life sciences and 3 for social sciences) and runs 15 research institutes. At this moment it has 297 Full Members, 61 Corresponding Members, 192 External Members and 226 Honorary Members.
